About PYB Consulting
PYB Consulting is a small firm of professional signal engineers with 70 years’ rail experience, much of it in senior positions, between us. We understand the old (we grew up with it), yet we champion the new and use our engineering skill helping our customers to make the transition between the one and the other.
We do this by working within projects (both development and implementation phases), developing policy (studies, reports and standards development) and assisting with investigations.

Our Vision.
Years ago I was in our school’s gymnastics team. We practiced for weeks before one exhibition to perfect one team routine where we all started in a line. When we came up for our first dress rehearsal out in the open field our coach noticed we had formed up our line with a right angled kink in the middle. He had to point out to us that the wall – which in the gym forced the line to curl around – had gone and had not followed us out into the field. Straight lines had become possible.
Sometimes the walls are more subtle and their absence can be the subject of long, learned debate. Our vision is that all coaches may see clearly with good eyes when straight lines have become possible; and when it is still necessary to bend.

Why PYB?
It is a systems engineering truism that $10 invested in the initial stages of a project can save $100 or $1000 at the other end of that project.
PYB Consulting provides an effective way to invest that $10 in the signalling space, particularly for projects or other measures involving the brown fields environment of an existing railway.
For many projects which missed the opportunity at the start of the project, we have had some success in limiting the potential $1000 at the other end of the project to just $100.
Our “end of project” customers know that PYB Consulting stays there beside you whatever your situation and however challenging it may appear. Our “start of project” customers tend not to notice our work so much – after all, who notices just spending $10 to get on the right track?
