In the project environment, our involvement at the project delivery phase as senior member of final delivery team has generally been across one or a number of the following roles:

Design management

Technology selection including gap analysis of technology offer against specification;
Signal design, signal check, acceptance review; Staff mentoring;

Project Engineering Management

Development of project scope into detailed work breakdown structure with staging; Managing/ monitoring delivery of packages as then defined;

Staged delivery planning.

Systems Engineering Management

Requirements analysis and tracking;
Identify design (technical) interfaces required in association with packages, manage interface definition task;
